HIPS – high-impact polystyreneHIPS (high-impact polystyrene) is a block-copolymer of styrene with rubber. When not modified PS is a fragile material and its specific impact viscosity does not suit many applications. High-impact PS is more flexible, and it has higher impact-resistance but lower tensile strength and thermal stability, compared to unmodified PS. For in-depth analysis we seldom refer only to the Foreign Trade Code (Group 3903), but we make our own more precise correlation of HIPS types by each grade of each producer.
